Occasionally you’ll have an odd night where nothing falls at all- I find it better in these occasions to cycle out by sitting at the fire again, because I’ve had little luck getting a star frag to spawn by reloading a night where none fell prior.

Unfortunately, the restart/load takes a minute, but no more or less so than sleeping/sitting until the next night, since saving and quitting hard resets the cycle that tells the game whether or not a star fragment spawned that night. It’s not perfect of course, but this method had me with all maxed armor sets that rely on star fragments with very little effort.
#Botw star fragment farming upgrade
These items are used to upgrade end game armor, and can also be used in cooking. You have until sunrise to hustle over to them and pick them up. They will have a glowing yellow beacon, similar to a pin, to indicate where they land. As soon as a star falls, which is often right away, race to it as fast as you can, get it, fast travel back to Shee Vaneer again, save, quit, load. Star Fragments are materials that fall from the sky on certain nights. Just hold the right stick over to one side and try not to get dizzy. As soon as you get up, save, quit and load the save. Shee Vaneer is the best place because of the view. As it is a one time use per prospector item, a total of 4 are needed to recolour the full set, costing 12,000 stardust. It can be purchased from Dusuri's Star Shop for 3,000 stardust. Contrary to popular belief, the phase of the Moon is meaningless. Star fragment is an item that allows one piece of the prospector kit to be recoloured to a gold variant. I’ve gotten as many as three a night, and often at least one.
